2022 E-Government Survey - Preparatory Process

In preparation for the UN E-government Survey 2022 and with the aim to improve the Survey and its methodology, UN DESA has organized consultation sessions with stakeholders to gather feedback and suggestions for the UN E-Government Survey 2022.

The dates for the sessions has been structured as per different time zones and respective regions:

Launch of the UNPAN new Website

Dear UNPAN Partners,

We are pleased to inform that the version one of the newly redesigned United Nations Public Administration Network (UNPAN) website is now live at unpan.un.org. UNPAN is a global network that connects relevant international, regional, subregional and national institutions and experts worldwide working on effective governance and public administration for sustainable development in line with Goal 16 of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

2020 UNPAN Members Meeting

The 2020 UNPAN Members Meeting took place on 14 July 2020 during which the version one of the newly redesigned United Nations Public Administration Network (UNPAN) website was launched.  The meeting was opened by Mr. Juwang Zhu, Director of the Division for Public Institutions and Digital Government (DPIDG) of UN DESA. Mr. Zhu reiterated the importance of focusing on how to advance the UNPAN as a “collaborative network”.

2020 Annual Meeting of the Global Initiative on Building Capacities of Public Servants for SDG Implementation

The UN DESA’s Global Initiative on Building Capacities of Public Servants for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Implementation, launched in 2018, aims at developing the capacities of governments and public servants (in terms of knowledge, skills, attitude, leadership competencies, and mindset) to support the implementation of the SDGs.

Facilitated Online Capacity Development Training Workshop on Innovation, Digital Government and Public Service Delivery for Sustainable Development in the Central Asia Region

The Division for Public Institutions and Digital Government (DPIDG) of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) conducted a regional virtual training workshop on “Innovation, Digital Government and Public Service Delivery for Sustainable Development” in the Central Asia region on 3-5 August 2021, in partnership with the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Zerde National Info communication Holding JSC, National Information Technologies JSC and other partners.

Advancing SMART Cities and Urban Digital Transformation to Achieve Sustainable Development Goals

The future of sustainable development will be determined in part in urban areas. Despite various challenges, urbanization can be a driving force for sustainability when anchored on the principles of sustainable development. Rapid advancement of digital technologies and applications has created also enormous opportunities and expectations for cities to harness digital tools to advance the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Increasingly, digital technologies are integrated into the lives and livelihoods of people, often considered an essential part of the SMART city toolbox.
