The United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) has finalized a Curriculum on Governance for the Sustainable Development Goals. Its objective is to provide ready-to-use training material on key governance pillars needed to implement the 2030 Agenda.
Within this context, we are planning to pilot test in the Arab region two of its toolkits, namely one on Changing Mindsets in Public Institutions and another on Institutional Capacities for Policy Coherence.
The Online Training Workshop on “Changing Mindsets and Strengthening Governance Capacities for Policy Coherence in the Arab region” was organized by the UN DESA in cooperation with UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UN ESCWA).
Through testing these Governance-specific toolkits, this Training Workshop aims at raising awareness and developing capacities among senior public officials from the Arab region on the need for effective institutional arrangements for holistic policy coherence. It also aims at highlighting the importance of changing mindsets and key competencies needed for effective policy coherence. The training featured guest speakers, interactive activities, group discussions and innovative practices for peer-to-peer learning. Furthermore, this workshop provided the opportunity to receive the participants’ feedback and input on these toolkits.
