This Handbook, prepared by UN DESA/DPIDG, provides local and national governments with a set of conceptual approaches, practical strategies, and tools to improve the delivery of public services through citizen centric One-stop-Shops (OSS). It includes guidance on how to prepare an action plan to establish One-stop-Shops for public service delivery systems.

The Conference, co-organized by UN DESA, the International Development Law Organization and the Government of Italy and held in April 2022, explored how a people-centred approach to governance can help rebuild trust, accelerate progress towards sustainable development and tackle the challenges facing a post-COVID world.

UN DESA’s Division for Public Institutions and Digital Government (DPIDG) advances effective, accountable and inclusive governance and public institutions for sustainable development, including through innovation, digital government and digital transformation. The Division provides capacity building and policy advice to countries, on request, to strengthen governments’ capacities to translate the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and other internationally agreed goals into institutional arrangements, strategies and programmes for effective service delivery and participatory, accountable and inclusive decision-making processes.

This report summarizes the key highlights and messages that were conveyed by the facilitators, speakers, and participants during the Regional Webinar Series on “How to Promote Resilience and Recovery from the COVID-19 Pandemic in Africa through Sound Policymaking” held respectively on 16 November, 8 December 2021, and 17 January 2022.
