Report on Resilience and Recovery from Covid-19 Through Sound Policy Making

This report summarizes the key highlights and messages that were conveyed by the facilitators, speakers, and participants during the Regional Webinar Series on “How to Promote Resilience and Recovery from the COVID-19 Pandemic in Africa through Sound Policymaking” held respectively on 16 November, 8 December 2021, and 17 January 2022. The workshops were organized by DPIDG / UN DESA, in collaboration with APRM and with the support of Resident Coordinator Offices.

The report contains key information about the 36 webinars conducted in 2020-2021 to pilot test the Curriculum's toolkits. The 2030 Agenda highlights the importance of the follow-up and review of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as an accountability mechanism and sets clear principles to guide it. Accountability institutions such as parliaments and supreme audit institutions (SAIs) are playing an increasing role in SDG oversight and assessment. However, while countries have made significant progress in institutionalizing SDG follow-up and review, the performance of such systems and processes is limited due to their imperfect integration with existing monitoring and evaluation systems and accountability institutions.
