Innovation and Service Delivery

This Handbook, prepared by UN DESA/DPIDG, provides local and national governments with a set of conceptual approaches, practical strategies, and tools to improve the delivery of public services through citizen centric One-stop-Shops (OSS). It includes guidance on how to prepare an action plan to establish One-stop-Shops for public service delivery systems.

The 2020-2021 Report of Capacity Development Workshops and Pilot Testing of the Curriculum on Governance for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Toolkits was prepared by the UN DESA / DPIDG and UNPOG. The report contains key information about the 36 webinars conducted in 2020-2021 to pilot test the Curriculum's toolkits. The curriculum on Governance for the SDGs is a comprehensive set of Training of Trainers Capacity Development Toolkits developed by DPIDG, UN DESA. To read more, click on the picture/title.

The handbook is developed based on the Toolkit and is intended to be used by local and national governments in training and capacity development workshops related to Risk-informed Governance and Innovative Technology for Disaster Risk Reduction and Resilience. The handbook aims to build national capacities to spearhead innovations and utilize Information and Communications Technologies (ICTs) and key frontier technologies in government in order to drive DRR and resilience.

The workshop on Managing Knowledge to Build Trust in Government was organized to exchange knowledge and practices worldwide, to challenge current thinking and bring to light best practices that cut across geographical boundaries, and to develop Knowledge Management strategies that leverage human capital and leadership. This is the Final Report of the workshop on advancing innovative approaches to implementing knowledge management that leads to increasing trust in government.

This report summarizes presentations and outcomes of a facilitated online training workshop on Innovation, Digital Government
and Public Service Delivery for Sustainable Development, which was jointly organized by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, through the Division for Public Institutions and Digital Government (UN DESA/DPIDG) and the SIDS Unit of the Division for Sustainable Development Goals (DSDG), in collaboration with the Caribbean Centre for Development Administration (CARICAD) and the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), and with the participation of the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (UN ECLAC), among others.

The KIPA Public Policy Review, KIPA PPR, is a journal published by the Korea Institute of Public Administration, KIPA. The journal seeks to advance scholarly discourse in public administration and policy and addresses public policy practice by sharing robust policy research findings and best policy practices worldwide. The Vol.2, Issue 1 focuses on response to COVID-19 and post-pandemic recovery.

The United Nations Public Service Awards Programme (UNPSA) is the most prestigious international recognition of excellence in public service. It rewards the creative achievements and the contributions of public service institutions to a more effective and responsive public administration in countries worldwide. This publication provides an overview of the UNPSA initiatives recognized as winners and finalists in 2008. Its purpose is to disseminate, through descriptive case studies, information about innovative practices by looking at the problem that led to an innovation; the solution that was designed and implemented to respond to the specific challenge; the actors and steps involved in the innovation process, and lessons learned.
