Upon the request of the Minister of Information and Public Administration (MISA) of North Macedonia, a UN DESA/DPIDG staff undertook an advisory mission to the country during the week of 23-27 May 2022. A series of meetings with high level officials from MISA took place to discuss issues related to North Macedonia's public administration reform, the preparation of its new public administration strategy and its alignment with the SDGs and the SG's Common Agenda. The advisory mission also focused on the preparation of draft laws on public service hiring, public service delivery and its increased importance in the area of digitalization, e-government, institutional capacity building and an enabling environment for innovation, policy/institutional coherence and coordination, the establishment of an academy for public servants, etc.
The advisory mission was prepared in close cooperation with UN RC and her team. During the advisory mission, a meeting was held with the newly appointed Director of the Regional Schools of Public Administration for Western Balkans (Respa). The new director highlighted the Memorandum of Understanding between Respa and DPIDG/UN DESA in further strengthening the ongoing cooperation to support public administration reforms in the Western Balkan countries.
