Virtual Conference on Celebrating and Honoring Workers in the Household Waste Sector: Peer Learning between Mayors and Workers' Representatives - On the Occasion of the Celebration of the United Nations Public Service Day

It is within the framework of the Celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the United Public Service Day (2003-2023), the Strategic Partnership between UCLG Africa and PSI-Africa Region, and of this Pilot Program, that the two Parties have decided to join forces to celebrate the United Nations Public Service Day, which is held on June 23rd each year, proclaimed in 2003 by the United Nations General Assembly in its Resolution A/RES/57/277.

Training of Trainer (ToT) Programme

As the continental professional organization for public administrators, AAPAM aims to build the capacity of public administrators through specialized training programmes focusing on addressing service delivery opportunities and challenges as envisioned by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Africa Agenda 2063. AAPAM leverages on our wide network of national, regional, continental and international partners to ensure a globalized approach to public administration. This model further offers members opportunities for exchange programmes, study tours and experiential learning.

Call for AAPAM Innovative Management Award 2023 - Submission Deadline 20 October

The African Association for Public Administration and Management (AAPAM) announces a call for submissions for the AAPAM 14th Innovative Management Award. The AAPAM Innovative Management Award is a continental-wide award to honor public sector institutions, organizations and ministries which have made exceptional and longstanding contributions to public service delivery. The closing date for submission is 20 October 2023.

Africa Renewal magazine

The Africa Renewal magazine examines the many issues that confront the people of Africa, its leaders and its international partners: sustainable development goals, economic reform, debt, education, health, women's empowerment, conflict and civil strife, democratization, investment, trade, regional integration and many other topics. It tracks policy debates. It provides expert analysis and on-the-spot reporting to show how those policies affect people on the ground.

National Workshop on “Youth Engagement in Institution Building and Public Services Delivery for Sustainable Development After the Pandemic”

The workshop is organized by UN DESA/DPIDG in collaboration with the Ministry for Youth, Professional Insertion, and Civic Engagement, the National Youth Council, as well as UNDP and UNFPA in Côte d’Ivoire on 7-9 December 2022. It will also involve other relevant national stakeholders in the government, NGO sector, civil society, and academia. This workshop is part of a pilot to a large initiative that aims to build on, and consolidate, previous work undertaken by UN DESA on “Youth Citizenship and Civic Engagement in Times of Pandemic” in this country (2021).

The 41st Roundtable Conference of the African Association for Public Administration and Management (AAPAM)

 

The 41st AAPAM Annual Roundtable Conference will be hold at the University of the Western Cape, Cape Town, South Africa on 6-9 December 2022.

The theme of the conference is Africa's Renewal in the Era of Sustainable Development: Shared Responsibility for Strengthening Institutions.

Capacity Development Workshop on Institutional Arrangements for Coherent Policy Formulation in the Areas of Climate, Land, Energy and Water System (CLEWS) in Namibia

UN DESA/DPIDG and EAPD, the Namibia Resident Coordinator’s Office, UN ECA, UNDP, FAO and the Namibian National Planning Commission held a hybrid workshop from 7-9 February 2022 in Swakopmund, Namibia to discuss how to develop, transfer and apply the Climate, Land, Energy and Water systems (CLEWs) framework - a tool suited to assess interlinkages and trade-offs between sustainable development policies - and how to strengthen the institutional arrangements to support integrated approaches to policy formulation and coherence.

AU Capacity Building Workshop on Africa's Voluntary National Reviews for the HLPF 2022 and Domestication of Agenda 2063

The APRM-UNDESA continental workshop on the "Voluntary National Reviews (VNRs) and domestication of Agenda 2063" organized in partnership with the SDG Centre for Africa, UNDP, the African Union Commission, and UNDP Regional Centre in Addis Ababa.on 28 & 29 March 2022, aimed to support national capacities of AU member States in preparations for VNRs to be presented at the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) in July 2022.  For more information, click on the image / title.

Capacity-building Workshop on the importance of transformational leadership in aligning the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Africa’s Agenda 2063

The United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, Division for Public Institutions and Digital Government (UN DESA/DPIDG), in close collaboration with the United Cities and Local Governments of Africa (UCLG Africa), organized a capacity-building workshop on the importance of transformational leadership in aligning the SDGs and Africa’s Agenda 2063 through the lens of intermediary cities.

National Workshop on “Transparency, Accountability and Ethics in Public Institutions”

The United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA), through its Division for Public Institutions and Digital Government (DPIDG) and its Project Office on Governance (UNPOG), in collaboration with the Office of the Ombudsman of Malawi with the support of the UN Resident Coordinator Office in Malawi and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Malawi, is organizing a 3-day National Workshop on “Transparency, Accountability and Ethics in Public Institutions”, which will be held from 2 to 4 August 2022 in Malawi.
