23rd Session of the Committee of Experts on Public Administration, 15-19 April 2024

The 23rd session of the Committee of Experts on Public Administration (CEPA) will take place in Conference Room 1 at United Nations Headquarters in New York from 15 to 19 April 2024. The Committee will examine a range of issues in governance and public administration that are central to ongoing efforts to implement the global 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, including: 

1. Institutional aspects of the theme of the 2024 session of the Economic and Social Council and the 2024 high-level political forum on sustainable development. 

Launch of the UN DESA/DPIDG/UNPOG eLearning Course on Effective National to Local Public Governance for SDG Implementation

The United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA, through the Division for Public Institutions and Digital Government (DPIDG), and its Project Office on Governance (UNPOG) will organize a webinar to introduce the newly launched eLearning Course on “Effective National to Local Public Governance for SDG Implementation”(Toolkit). 

Based on the UN DESA Curriculum on Governance for the SDGs, the Toolkit was developed in 2021 focusing on strengthening public institutions at national and local level to promote more consistent implementation of SDGs.

This position is located in the Programme Management and Capacity Development Unit (PMCDU) in the Division for Public Institutions and Digital Government (DPIDG) of the Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA). DPIDG focuses on supporting countries in improving effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels for internationally agreed development goals, including the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Governance and Public Administration Officer reports to the Chief of Unit.

World Public Sector Report 2023

The World Public Sector Report 2023 examines the role that national institutional and governance innovations and changes that emerged during the COVID-19 pandemic can play in advancing progress towards the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The report focuses on three main questions: How can Governments reshape their relationship with people and other actors to enhance trust and promote the changes required for more sustainable and peaceful societies? How can Governments assess competing priorities and address difficult policy trade-offs that have emerged since 2020?
