2024 UNPAN Members Annual Meeting

The 2024 UNPAN Members Annual Meeting, organized by the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA), Division for Public Institutions and Digital Government (DPIDG), will take place at the margins of the 23rd Session of the UN Committee of Experts on Public Administration at the UN Headquarters in New York on Thursday 18 April 2024 from 1.30pm to 2.45pm at Conference Room A at the Secretariat Building. This is an in-person meeting.  
 

2024 UN Public Service Forum

The 2024 UN Public Service Forum and Awards Ceremony will take place in Incheon, Republic of Korea from 24 to 26 June 2024, under the theme ‘Fostering Innovation amid Global Challenges: a Public Sector Perspective’. The Forum is co-organized by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) through its Division for Public Institutions and Digital Government (DPIDG) and the Ministry of the Interior and Safety of the Republic of Korea (MOIS).

Context

Strengthening budget credibility through external audits – Webinar series (session 1)

DPIDG/UNDESA and the International Budget Partnership (IBP) in collaboration with supreme audit institutions (SAIs) and partners are organizing a webinar series to enable peer learning on the various ways in which SAIs may assess and address budget credibility. The series aims to create a platform where SAIs and other stakeholders can share knowledge and experiences on budget credibility, and discuss strategies and practical ways to advance this work.

ClimateScanner Global Call

The Division for Public Institutions and Digital Government (DPIDG /UNDESA) and the Federal Court of Accounts – Brazil (TCU) are jointly organizing a meeting on “ClimateScanner Global Call: Engaging Supreme Audit Institutions in assessing national climate action” from 25 to 26 March 2024 in New York.

SDG 16 High-Level Conference 2024

The United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, the International Development Law Organization and the Permanent Mission of Italy to the United Nations will organize the “SDG 16 High-Level Conference 2024 – Peace, justice and inclusive societies for Sustainable Development”, to be held on Monday, 6 May 2024 at United Nations Headquarters in New York.

Virtual Workshop on Subsidiarity and Decentralisation for Sustainable Development

Background: The Committee of Experts on Public Administration (CEPA) adopted 11 principles of effective governance at its seventeenth session. The principles, endorsed by the Economic and Social Council in its resolution 2018/12. Highlight the need for pragmatic and ongoing improvements in national and local governance capabilities to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The principles are designed to ensure effective, accountable, and inclusive institutions for sustainable development at all levels.
