IPAC's Webinar: Immigrant Health in Canada: Exploring Challenges and Opportunities for Collective Action

Canada relies on immigration for economic development and growth. Recent immigrants in Canada are generally healthier than the Canadian-born population, a phenomenon known as the Healthy Immigrant Effect. However, the health advantage of immigrants diminishes over time, with studies showing that after 10 years in Canada, immigrants have similar or poorer health than the Canadian born population. Ensuring the long-term health and well-being of immigrants is crucial for Canada's health system and economic development.

Side Event: A Climate Action-oriented State: new tools and capacities for transformative public management

As stated in ECLAC's 2023 Public Management Outlook, it is imperative to incorporate actions to address the climate challenge in all stages of public management. This includes actions to improve and align public planning with medium and long-term climate goals; allocate and ensure adequate budgets; advance in the development of resilient public infrastructure and investment that avoids technological lock-ins; carry out proper monitoring and evaluation mechanisms for public policies related to climate objectives and create or improve some public functions to achieve this.

Lusophone Countries Workshop for the Review of the Standards of Excellence for Public Administration Education and Training

The United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) and the International Association of Schools and Institutes of Administration (IASIA) organized a Regional Workshop for the Review of the Standards of Excellence for Public Administration Education and Training in Lusophone countries. The workshop took place from 8.30 am to 11.30 am New York time on 20 February 2024. The event was conducted in Portuguese.

This in-person workshop, co-designed with the National Institute of Public Administration (INAP), and with the support of the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office, will contribute to the strengthening of capacities of the Guatemala public sector to better understand the important role they play in implementing the SDGs with an emphasis on changing mindsets for innovation in the provision of government services.
