Social and emotional skills—sometimes called soft, people, or human skills—are critical for high functioning teams. They include skills such as active listening, empathy, communication, collaboration, and resilience. These skills are in high demand by employers, despite the ongoing digitization in workplaces.

The Conference Board of Canada has been extensively researching social and emotional skills (SES) and has produced key insights and recommendations on how employers, job-seekers, and career professionals can leverage the potential of SES for workplace resilience.

We will draw from our research and hear from SES experts, so that attendees at this event will:

  • Understand how SES can align with organizational values to build stronger teams and make for a more productive workplace
  • Learn effective and strategic recruiting practices to attract the best candidates
  • Discover why measurable assessment and tools for supporting SES are important for employees to thrive at work

Heather McIntosh, Associate Director, Education & Skills, The Conference Board of Canada
