Thematic Communities of Practice

The Thematic Communities of Practice aim to support the informed discussion and reflection of key issues related to governance and public institutions, the collection and dissemination of good practices and the identification of opportunities and resources for building capacity in the area of governance and public administration at the global, regional and national levels.

Objectives

The overall objective of the Thematic Communities of Practice is to mobilize a network of experts and other officials and professionals to contribute to the discussions on governance and public administration worldwide. The Communities of Practice provide an open forum for dialogue on new and emerging issues related to governance and public administration, as well as a platform for knowledge exchange among practitioners, experts, and other key stakeholders from around the world.

Methodology

Activities include virtual discussions on current issues of governance and public administration, collective development of publications, courses, materials and learning tools; collection and discussion of innovative practices for capacity development; and joint organization of events. Every six months an UNPAN Member volunteers to lead the virtual discussions and guide the planning of CoP virtual dialogues and other activities.

Target Audience

The Thematic Communities of Practice are open to UNPAN Members and UNPAN Associate Members, notably individuals with an interest in governance and public administration, such as:
