Capacity Development and Consultation Workshop on Bhutan National Data Governance Framework

UN DESA in collaboration with the Government Technology (GovTech) of the Government of Bhutan will be hosting a national consultation workshop with representatives from governments, private, public sector, civil societies, academia and other key stakeholders to develop a national data governance framework.

Global Forum on Data Governance and Digital Transformation

Data and digital data governance in the public sector have become increasingly important in Governments’ modus operandi and real-world applicability. Data are now integral to every sector and function of government—as essential as physical assets and human resources. Much of the operational activity in government is now data-driven or data-centric, and many Governments would find it difficult, if not impossible, to function without data.

Capacity Building Workshop on Strengthening National Capacities for Spreading Digitalization at Local Levels

The UNDESA, UN ESCAP, and UNU-EGOV will organize the workshop in a face-to-face setting in Bangkok on 21-23 November 2023. The workshop will comprise six sessions, each of which will be facilitated by competent resource persons and experts from relevant agencies. The proposed agenda and program of work for the workshop are enclosed below.

Objective The workshop in November 2023 aims to: 

i) Strengthen national capacities for spreading digitization at the local level, thereby advancing SDG 11, by providing knowledge and technical support; 

18th Internet Governance Forum: "The Internet We Want - Empowering All People"

The 18th annual meeting of the Internet Governance Forum will be hosted by the Government of Japan in Kyoto from 8 to 12 October 2023. The Forum's overarching theme is: The Internet We Want - Empowering All People.

Building on the results of the call for thematic issues the MAG decided that the 18th annual IGF programme will develop around the following sub-themes:

United Nations E-Government Survey Local Online Service Index (LOSI) Webinar Series - Episode 2 – Brazil

The second LOSI webinar series organized by the Digital Government Branch (DGB) of the DPIDG / UN DESA will focus on the application of LOSI methodology in Brazil. This one-hour webinar will host researchers who conducted the study in Brazilian cities. The webinar will highlight opportunities and challenges on e-government at city levels while aiming at information sharing and capacity building.

The workshop was organized by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA), through the Division for Public Institutions and Digital Government (DPIDG) and its project office - United Nations Project Office on Governance (UNPOG) and United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN ESCAP).

National Capacity Building Workshop on Accelerating Digital Government Transformation in Sri Lanka: Strengthening Digital Governance for Sustainable Development

The workshop was organized by United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA), through the Division for Public Institutions and Digital Government (DPIDG) and its Project Office on Governance (UNPOG), Sustainable Development Council of Sri Lanka (SDC), Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA), and United Nations Resident Coordinator Office in Sri Lanka.

United Nations E-Government Survey Local Online Service Index (LOSI) Webinar Series - Episode 3 - the State of Palestine

The third LOSI webinar series, organized by the Digital Government Branch (DGB) of the DPIDG/UN DESA, will concentrate on the application of the LOSI methodology in the State of Palestine. This one-hour webinar will host researchers who have conducted the study in the country. The webinar also offers an excellent opportunity for city governments to engage in discussions and learn about the upcoming UN E-Government Survey 2024, with a special focus on the LOSI.
