The 18th annual meeting of the Internet Governance Forum (IGF), a global, multistakeholder platform on digital public policy convened by the Secretary-General, will take place from 8 to 12 October in Kyoto, Japan. More than 8,000 registered participants from over 170 countries will gather on the theme, “The Internet We Want - Empowering All People”, recalling the need for an equitable, sustainable and people-centred digital transformation that meets our shared aspirations and values. Among the 300-plus sessions under the IGF umbrella, its dedicated high-level, parliamentary and youth tracks mean that key stakeholders - decisionmakers, legislators and young people from around the world - will be present to exchange views and develop critical recommendations on the future of digital governance. The strong presence of UN entities like OHCHR, UNESCO, UNDP, ITU and others, will further coherence around the Secretary-General’s proposed Global Digital Compact. All can access the 18th IGF online and via livestream.
