Renowned Filipino Public Administration scholar and practitioner Dr. Alex B. Brillantes, Jr. was elected as the Eastern Regional Organization for Public Administration Secretary-General (EROPA) during its Executive Council Meeting last July 29 and appointed during its General Assembly and August 4, 2021.
Dr. Alex B. Brillantes was nominated by Dr. Akira Nakamura, one of EROPA’s leading lights and other PA experts in the Asia-Pacific. The deliberation was made by the Future Plans, Programs, and Search Committee headed by Dr. Masao Kikuchi of Meiji University, Japan.
The new Secretary-General vowed to reinvigorate the 60-year old Organization – the first of its kind in Asia – by bringing in more activities and members through collaborations with his expansive network in the field of PA.
The current EROPA Executive Council, headed by Chairperson Alicia dela Rosa-Bala of the Philippine Civil Service Commission, expressed their full support to Secretary-General Brillantes’ endeavors.
Prior to his EROPA stint, Dr. Brillantes served as the Asian Association of Public Administration President from 2019-2020. He is a Professor, Scientist, and Former Dean University of the Philippines National College of Public Administration and Governance.
