International Mayors' Forum

UNPOG sent Mr. Keping Yao, Governance and Public Administration Expert, to attend the 2nd International Mayors’ Forum, where over mayors from over 70 cities participated in the forum to share best practices for making local communities more inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable. The Forum was jointly organized by UN Office for Sustainable Development (UNOSD) and UNPOG, in collaboration with UNDP Malawi and the Government of Malawi. Taking advantage of the big gathering of Mayors from all regions, UNPOG in collaboration with UNOSD developed and distributed a survey to analyze the challenges and progress in the implementation of the SDGs at the sub-national level, as well as to better understand how cities are localizing the SDGs. UNPOG has so far collected 43 survey responses from mayors and other delegates of cities and more incoming replies are expected.
