The Committee of Experts on Public Administration held its seventeenth session at the United Nations in New York from 23 to 27 April 2018. Its theme was “Readying public institutions for implementation of the SDGs”.

A key message of the session was that institutions play a critical role in the achievement of all the Sustainable Development Goals and targets and that a wide range of pragmatic ongoing improvements in national and local governance capabilities can yield important long-term results. Building on the work of the sixteenth session, the Committee agreed on a set of principles of effective governance for sustainable development that could serve as an important reference point in building effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels and in support of the implementation of all Sustainable Development Goals.  Read more
