DPIDG/UNPOG and DGB, in collaboration with UN ESCAP, organized the Interregional Capacity Development Workshop on Digital Government Implementation for SDGs on 23-24 July in Bangkok, Thailand. The aim of the Workshop was to build individual and institutional capacities of LDCs, SIDS and LLDCs through various digitalgov implementation toolkits, particularly the DIGIT4SD toolkit. Participants from 27 countries, mostly mid-level to senior government officials from LDCs, LLDCs and SIDS, from Asia and the Pacific and Africa attended the two-day Workshop.
During the two-day Workshop, extensive discussions centered around: i) capacity development for the future digital government, ii) digital government planning & analysis, iii) digital government implementation, iv) digital government monitoring & evaluation, and v) digital infrastructure, based on the DIGIT4SD toolkit developed by DPIDG. In addition, experiences and good practices of participating countries were shared through country case presentations and group discussions, exchanging different strategies, experiences and challenges of different countries in digital government development.
The participants expressed that the Workshop provided a valuable opportunity for peer-to-peer learning and build partnerships among participating countries as well as UN DESA, UN ESCAP and ITU.
