New Blog on Making National Institutional Arrangements for Implementing the Sustainable Development Goals More Effective: a Work in Progress

Strong and effective institutions are paramount to the achievement of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and all the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This is well recognized in the Agenda itself. However, five years after the start of the implementation of the Agenda, governance issues remain at the forefront. The 2021 edition of the World Public Sector Report, published by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA), looks in detail at changes in national institutional arrangements for implementing the SDGs since 2015, and examines selected aspects of their effectiveness. World Public Sector Report 2021 Now Available

The World Public Sector Report 2021, entitled “National institutional arrangements for implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals: A five-year stocktaking”, is now available here. Based on in-depth examination of institutional arrangements for SDG implementation in a sample of 24 countries in all regions, the report aims to draw attention to the institutional dimension of SDG implementation and provide lessons for national policymakers in this regard. The report also takes stock of the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on national institutions and their implications for delivering on the 2030 Agenda. Read more

Dr. Alex B. Brillantes was nominated by Dr. Akira Nakamura, one of EROPA’s leading lights and other PA experts in the Asia-Pacific. The deliberation was made by the Future Plans, Programs, and Search Committee headed by Dr. Masao Kikuchi of Meiji University, Japan. The new Secretary-General vowed to reinvigorate the 60-year old Organization – the first of its kind in Asia – by bringing in more activities and members through collaborations with his expansive network in the field of PA.  Click on the image or title to read more.
