Training of Trainer (ToT) Programme

AAPAM in collaboration with Palestinian National School of Administration (PNSA) invite your institution to nominate four (4) participants for a Training of Trainer (TOT) programme scheduled from 2 nd – 6 th July 2023 at the Palestine National School, Palestine. The TOT programme is designed to equip the participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to become effective trainers in their respective fields. The course will cover 3 key topics including; Human Resources Development, Design & Development of Training Program and Effective Teaching. After successful completion of the program the participants will be issued with a Certificates of Completion. Application form. Deadline 27 April.   

National Capacity Building Workshop on Accelerating Digital Government Transformation in Sri Lanka: Strengthening Digital Governance for Sustainable Development

The Workshop will feature presentations on the Principles of Effective Governance for Sustainable Development and trends in e-government development including the recent move in digital platform government and data policy. It will conduct a situation analysis with reference to the Handbook on Digital Government Capability Assessment and identify priorities and new approaches to inclusive service delivery. This Workshop will also conduct an exercise to develop an e-Competency profile of the public sector workforce in Sri Lanka with reference to the European e-Competence Framework (e-CF). This Workshop aims to develop a road map and action planning for facilitating innovation and advancing digital government in Sri Lanka to realize the SDGs.

The objective of the online workshop is to equip the INAP’s trainers on the use of the Curriculum on Governance for the SDGs toolkits to help them train Guatemala’s public servants with innovative mindsets and behaviors to better address current and future challenges related to SDGs implementation. The workshop will aim to evaluate and then customize the translated (Spanish) training materials contained in the Toolkits on Changing Mindsets in Public Institutions to Implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and on Innovation and Digital Government for Public Service Delivery and the Digital Transformation to the needs of Guatemala as identified by INAP/Guatemala.

2023 SDG 16 Conference – SDG 16 as a compass for navigating intersecting crises

At a time when intersecting global crises are posing unprecedented challenges to advancing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, the International Development Law Organization and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy announce that the fourth SDG 16 Conference will take place from 30 May to 1 June 2023 in Rome, Italy. The Conference will review progress and challenges related to SDG 16, focusing on conflict and shrinking trust in public institutions. The event will also explore SDG 16’s catalytic role in responding to food systems and climate change crises.

Regional Symposium on Mainstreaming the Sustainable Development Goals in the Curricula of Schools of Public Administration in Africa

UN DESA/DPIDG, the African Management Development Institutes’ Network (AMDIN), the International Association of Schools and Institutes of Administration (IASIA), the Kenya School of Government (KSG), and the United Cities and Local Governments of Africa (UCLG-Africa)/African Local Government Academy (ALGA) are co-organizing an online Regional Symposium on Mainstreaming the Sustainable Development Goals in the Curricula of Schools of Public Administration in Africa. The Symposium will bring together experts from schools of public administration, and institutes of training in Africa to discuss the importance of mainstreaming the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into their curricula. 

The New Neo-Weberian State

The South Asian Network for Public Administration will hold its second webinar for 2023 on “The New Neo-Weberian State". It will be on 29 April at 8:00 AM (Berlin time). Professor Wolfgang Drechsler from the Tallinn University of Technology, an adjunct with the UCL and Harvard University, will present the keynote on the New Neo-Weberian State. The webinar also features SANPA Vice-President Professor Akhlaque Haque as the panelist; SANPA President Professor Habib Zafarullah as the moderator; and Professor Shiladitya Chakraborty from the University of Kalyani will offer the vote of thanks.

First Meeting of the IASIA and the UN DESA Task Force for the Review of the Standards of Excellence in Public Administration Education and Training

UN DESA/DPIDG and its Project Office on Governance (UNPOG), and the International Association of Schools and Institutes of Administration (IASIA) are co-organizing the First Meeting of the IASIA/UN DESA Task Force for the Review and/or Update of the Standards of Excellence for Public Administration Education and Training. The Standards of Excellence were finalized in 2008 almost 15 years ago. While the Standards are still relevant today, they do not refer to recent inter-governmental agreements and to the insights from the work undertaken by UN DESA/DPIDG and IASIA in the area of education and training.  Most notably, the Standards were issued before the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development was adopted by 193 Member States. The first meeting to review and/or update these Stadards will be held on April 18, 2023 from 8 to 10:30 a.m. NY Time.
